About

Road & Motor is an international editorial publication devoted to significant automobiles and the world surrounding them: performance, engineering, design, collecting, driving, motorsport and automotive culture.

The publication is built around five convictions. Machines worth knowing. Roads worth driving. People worth listening to. Design worth understanding. History worth preserving.

What we cover

Significant new automobiles, road tests and first drives where we have actually driven, grand touring and great roads, collector cars and auctions, restoration and preservation, automotive design and coachbuilding, engineering, motorsport history and culture, concours, collections, garages, museums, photography and the personalities who shape the automotive world.

How we work

Significance is earned, not bought. A car does not belong in Road & Motor merely because it is expensive; it earns coverage through engineering, design, performance, history, craftsmanship, rarity, cultural significance, innovation, driving experience, provenance or competition history.

We research every story and verify factual claims. We never invent specifications, prices, production figures, auction results, provenance, quotes or driving impressions. We never claim to have driven a car unless a Road & Motor representative actually drove it. Where coverage is based on manufacturer information or credible third-party reporting, we write accordingly.

Photography of named automobiles is real photography, published under applicable rights. We do not present generated imagery as documentary photography of a real car.

We do not portray automobiles as guaranteed investments. Where values are discussed, we distinguish estimates, hammer prices, prices including buyer's premium, asking prices and verified transactions, with dates and context.

Driving

We write about performance without glorifying dangerous behaviour on public roads. We do not encourage reckless driving, street racing or illegal driving, and track performance is clearly contextualised where discussed.

Corrections and accountability

When we get something wrong, we correct it openly and note the correction on the article. Read our corrections policy and our full editorial standards.

Commercial independence

Editorial selections are made on merit. Advertising, sponsored content and commercial partnerships are always identified as such. Objects, our curated selection, is an editorial feature, not a shop: Road & Motor does not sell products, does not rank them by price, and introduces no affiliate relationships without clear disclosure.
